School Activities

The school offers a wide range of activities which supplement the standard curriculum

The St. Sylvester's G.A.A. Club provides us with a football coach.  The coach visits the school one morning a week to help the children in football skills.  He has help from some local transition year students.  G.A.A. training is offered to all classes.

The Malahide Cricket club also provides us with a cricket coach. The coach visits one morning a week in the Spring and Summer months to help with cricket skills.

Christmas Concert & Carol Service

Christmas has always been a special time for children and in St. Sylvester's we celebrate this great feast by having our annual concert. Drama, Song and Dance stimulate the children's imagination in an exciting way and our concert gives them an opportunity to display their many talents. Our Senior Infant and First Classes take part. We also combine the concert with a carol service and this enables our audience to participate in the carol singing, seasonal cheer, excitement and good will with their children. It is always a memorable occasion.

Sponsored Dance

Each Spring the school holds a sponsored Dance.  Each class learns a few songs to sing and dance to.  On the day of the Dance, each child wears fancy dress.  Each class is given the opportunity to perform their chosen dances whilst the parents and other children and teachers join in the fun too!

Green Schools
We have a very proactive Green School Committee consisting of teachers, parents and children.
To date we have received four green flags for recycling, conservation of energy, conservation of water and travel.

We have a new Green School's Committee in place and a new Teacher's Committee and have been working very hard as a team to get our forth green flag for transport.
