On Friday April 19th 2013, we had our `Maths for Fun Day’. This is an annual event organised by Mrs.  Kirby, the Deputy Principal with lots of support from parents and staff alike. The children were asked to wear something with a Maths Theme e.g. football jerseys (with numbers) birthday badges, clothes with stripes/patterns/shapes/spots etc. They were also encouraged to bring in a traditional age appropriate board game. There was a great atmosphere in school on the day and the weather was kind, sunshine and blue skies! All classes had an opportunity to put Maths skills learnt in class to work, solving problems inside and outside the classroom. The Junior Infants spent time in the hall working on various construction projects and practising their shopping skills. The Senior Infants were kept busy with a Maths Trail through the school, whilst the First Classes did their Trail in the Senior Yard and the Car Park. It all served to highlight the relevance of Maths skills in our daily lives and we were all reminded of the fact that Maths really is all around us.
